We're back! You may have noticed we took a break to let our inventory catch up with demand. The unseasonably harsh winter caused our herd to burn more fat than usual to stay warm, so they have taken longer to reach "finish" weights throughout this year. We are finally starting to harvest again, and will continue to have more beef available as we get into peak harvest season this Fall.
You will also notice some changes to our store. We have condensed our options to a number of beef bundles and the opportunity to place deposits on larger beef shares. Under this new model, we are currently not able to offer items à la carte, but Hillsdale-area customers will still be able to visit Audrey at the Hillsdale County Farmers market and order via their new site with more options here.
If we haven't met: Welcome! We're a family farm in Hillsdale, Michigan grazing cattle the way nature intended. We focus on all-natural, eco-regenerative grazing practices that improve the soil and are actually good for our local ecosystem. We believe you can enjoy premium cuts of 100% grass-fed beef that have a positive impact on the environment and provide maximum nutrients for your family.
Like many farms and ranches we have been impacted by the rising cost of production and processing at this time. We are fortunate, however, to graze our herd on nutritious pasture instead of having to buy grain for feed. We do not have to purchase fertilizer, seed or chemicals of any kind. But the skyrocketing cost of beef production still affects our business— especially the way that processing plants are experiencing staffing issues and everything from our plastic packaging to our reusable insulated bags are affected by inflated costs.
Our increased costs have not been reflected in our retail pricing in the past, but we’ve had to make some adjustments. You’ll notice that our store has changed. We have new bundle options and deposits available for larger beef shares. We always want to make our bundles as valuable as possible and offer sales when we are able.
We know that buying direct from local farms is not the most convenient option. It’s an investment of time, patience, storage space and upfront cost. But we can attest that your investment makes a huge difference for our local economy and ecosystem. Family farms are going extinct and our environment is suffering from corporate, toxic food production. Thank you for making the choice to support local, eco-regenerative farms. We need you now more than ever.
